A search is underway for several people in the Almería town of Cuevas de Almanzora, after a landslide affected a number of caves being used as homes.

Three people have been rescued from the site, one is unhurt and two have been taken to the Inmaculada Hospital in Huércal-Overa with several broken bones. They are a 25 year old man and 48 year old woman according to EFE news agency.

The emergency services continue to search for another two or three people who it is believed are still trapped in one of the homes. They have located one woman and are in contact with her. Rocks which have fallen have complicated the rescue process.

The landslide, which saw earth move some 15 or 20m, happened at 0530 on Friday morning in the Realengo district of Cuevas de Almanzora, and several other cave homes have been evacuated.
